It’s been a while, but we’ve been really busy here at Papernoise working on a bunch of projects lately. Some we’re still working on, but this one is done and we can now finally share it:
This short video was interesting to make from various points of view. It was our first animation done completely in Blender and the style and animation technique is the same as the one we’re using for the game. We had the chance to refine some of our techniques and learn a few things from it. All of this we can put to good use now, since this sort of rigged 2D cut-out technique works really well for games.

But back to the game.
We’re now finally working on a new room as you can see. This is the squirrel’s garden, and it’s going to be central for a few puzzles.
We’re also working some more on the overall storyline, adding some details for the backstory and the characters.
On related news, development on Popochiu is proceeding at quite a pace! Alpha 5 was released I think 3 weeks ago. Lots of bugs have been fixed and many new features have been added. Most of it works really well now and you can now also customize the UI. Looks like the final v 2.0 should be released soon:
We aim to release 2.0 Stable by the end of this year, supporting (and requiring) Godot 4.2.
