I’ve been experimenting with a 90s Risograph printer lately (courtesy of friends of mine at La Foresta). I’m still learning how to deal with this, but I’m already a huge fan. It’s such a weird mix of silkscreening and office laser printer and the results can be both unpredictable and very organic looking.
I used my illustration for the Mutant Machine to make some test prints. It’s really hard to get the colours to line up properly over the whole printed surface. It can be done, at least in part, but it requires shooting out tons of prints to check the settings and get rid of the ghosting.
To be honest, the misalignment is something I quite like, so I’ll just embrace it and use it as a stylistic device.
